What is Potential Kids?
Potential Kids is voluntary non-profit organisation based in Hatfield, aiming to help neurodiverse young people, their siblings and families by providing social/activity groups.
We offer after-school and weekend activity sessions for neurodiverse young people. These are kept small enough in numbers to reduce social anxieties and fears. They are held in a safe and understanding environment, where our young people can be understood, accepted and have the opportunity of meeting others like themselves. Our young people will have the time and space to enable them to learn and develop their social and communication skills, through play with others. Most who attend will have limited opportunities to socialise, learn and have fun, as they may have been unable to join other mainstream clubs. We provide an avenue for young people to reduce their social isolation, increase their self-esteem, whilst also building their self-confidence. These also give parents the opportunity to meet, relax, have a coffee and some downtime, whilst their young people socialise, learn and play. The sessions are run by experienced/qualified DBS/safeguarded professionals, therapists, play leaders, coaches and volunteers.
We run activities for various different ages at multiple locations including:
- Old Management Suite, The Galleria Outlet Centre, Comet Way, Hatfield, Herts, AL10 0XR
- Breaks Manor, Link Drive, Hatfield, Herts AL10 8EY
- Roe Hill Fields, Briars Lane, Hatfield, AL10 8EY
- Birchwood Leisure Center, Longmead, Hatfield AL10 0AN
- Jim McDonald Centre, High View, Hatfield AL10 8HO
Feedback from the Community:
Great place for young people with ASD to grow and learn and opportunities for parents to get support
A brilliant place for kids with Autism and ADHD to interact with others in a safe environment and make friends. Love it! ❤️❤️🙏🏾🙏🏾
Absolutely fantastic social opportunity for children with ASD and their parents in a spacious and welcoming place. There are a number of great activities available from sensory input to imaginative play and creative activities including art and minecraft! and a view of the main train line north (great for many of our boys on the spectrum). Well done to Angela who has worked tirelessly to make this happen!!
Fantastic group, very welcoming to new people like me who are just negotiating my way through the autism world with my under diagnosis child. It’s a great place to chat to others about there experiences. The activities are wonderful and my child has felt like he is not alone anymore.
Amazing group! my son loved the minecraft session and he learned to ride a bike with Chris, something we never thought he’d do. So grateful to you all.
